Stamford Lighthouse - 1906
Title
Stamford Lighthouse - 1906
Description
Description on back (has been slightly altered to accommodate for a cutoff caption): "[Serving as] beacon for 72 years to mariners along Long Island Sound, the Stamford lighthouse was built [atop] a dangerous reef off Southfield Point. The lighthouse was deactivated in 1953 and was marked by the City of Stamford as a historical landmark in 1956. This photograph, the ninth in a series of old-time pictures depicting long-ago Stamford, was taken in 1906 when the harbor was completely frozen over. Note the man standing on drift ice in the lower left-hand corner."
