The automoblie age was just getting into high gear when this photograph was taken in 1903. Depicted is one of the first "autocars" in this area. Equipped with a gasoline engine and a chain drive, the pioneering motorcar had just been overhauled by the mechanics of the Ball Manufacturing Company and was ready for the road again when this picture was takeb. There were no garages as we know them today back in 1903 and motorist either went to a machine shop or the local blacksmith for service. The Ball Manufacturing Company was located on Jefferson Street
