Town Hall before fire
Title
Town Hall before fire
Description
The Stamford Town Hall, erected in 1870, was completely destroyed by a raging fire on the night of Feb. 4, 1904, Flames rising high into the night sky set the spire of the neighboring Congregational Church afire, cracked plate glass windows of stores across the street and would have caused a general conflagration if it had not been for the snow covered roofs. The building had stores on the street floor.
