First Congregational Church 1900
Title
First Congregational Church 1900
Description
This rare photograph, the seventh in a weekly series depicting Stamford scenes of long ago, shows The First Congregational Church when it was situated at the corner of Atlantic and Bank Streets. Erected in 1857, this edifice was the fifth built by the Church which traces its beginnings in Stamford (then called "Rippowan") to 1641. The building was torn down in 1911 and was replaced by the handsome building north of Bedford Park in 1911.
