Description
Once known as The “Stage House” and famous as a stopping-off point for travelers from New York to New Haven and Boston, The Stamford House was located on the south side of Main Street and directly across the street from the Carlton House, its main competitor. This photograph was taken in 1904 only short years before The Stamford House was discontinued as a hostelry on March 30, 1915, when the Hotel Davenport was opened. Third in a weekly displays of Old-Time Stamford scenes.
