Description

It’s the presidential election year of 1892 and the Main Street of Stamford is decorated for a political rally being staged in honor of Grover Cleveland and Adlai E. Stevenson, the democratic candidates for president and vice-president of the United States. Note the campaign banner hung overhead. This photograph, taken looking down Main Street from the corner of Pacific Street, is the twenty-first in a series of Old-Time Stamford pictures. Mr. Cleveland and Mr. Stevenson won the election and took office in 1893.
